The glory of God is the human person fully alive; and to be alive consists in beholding God. Irenaeus
“Spiritual direction” refers to the direction that your life takes as you listen to the Holy Spirit, not any direction that I provide. As spiritual director, I am a companion in the faith journey. I am a soul friend. If you decide to contact me, we will meet and prayerfully discern whether we will begin spiritual direction together.
Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and pain of it no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace. Frederick Buechner
The ministry I offer is spiritual direction within the Christian tradition. I do not offer psychotherapy, psychological evaluation, or treatment referral.
In finding a spiritual director, we trust that God will lead us. After all, it is the Holy Spirit that does the guiding and real directing. The spiritual director is simply there to be God’s friend and your friend in the process.
I look forward to accompanying you on your spiritual journey if you are Christian; trying to live a spiritually informed and inspired life; discerning vocation and ministry; a seeker who is considering joining a Christian community. This ministry is LGBTQIA inclusive and affirming.
I am an active member of the Episcopal (Anglican) Church. I have engaged in spiritual direction with members of several Christian denominations and traditions. I have met with laity, clergy, religious, and seminarians. I have met with college students and those preparing to enter seminary.
The greatest honor and glory you can give to almighty God, greater than all your sacrifices and offerings, is to live your life happily, joyfully, because of the knowledge of God’s love. Julian of Norwich
For me, this practice named spiritual direction is about letting our lives be shaped by the Gospel and the love of Christ; being open to the presence of God; and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Christ is at work within the relationship. The spiritual companion joins Christ in His work of redeeming and renewing.
Spiritual direction is about the growing recognition that our ordinary lives are intertwined with Divine mystery. It is about allowing the truth and love of God to penetrate and transform our hearts.
When we meet, I intentionally adopt a posture of noncertainty, curiosity, openness, and wonder. This posture allows me to fully listen to your journey and to remain open to movements of the Spirit.

The spiritual life is not a life of quiet withdrawal, a hothouse growth of artificial ascetic practices. It is in the ordinary duties and labors of life that the Christian can and should develop spiritual union with God.
Thomas Merton
Do not think that saintliness comes from occupation; it depends rather on what one is. The kind of work we do does not make us holy, but we may make it holy.
Meister Eckhart
He or she is entirely alone who is without a friend. But what happiness, what security, what joy to have someone to whom you dare to speak on terms of equality as to another self; one to whom you can unblushingly make known what progress you have made in the spiritual life; one to whom you can entrust all the secrets of your heart and before whom you can place your plans.
Aelred of Rievaulx
Whoever has God in mind, simply and solely God, in all things, such persons carry God with them in all their works and into all places, and God alone does all their works. They seek nothing but God; nothing seems good to them but God. They become one with God in every thought.
Meister Eckhart

In times of anxiety and suffering, God sometimes gives, in that deep place in the soul where human torments can no longer reach, movements of joy and an intense awareness of spiritual realities, so that one can return to life with its struggles and sorrows.
Elisabeth Leseur
The false self, sensing its fundamental unreality, begins to clothe itself in myths and symbols of power. Since it intuits that it is but a shadow, that it is nothing, it begins to convince itself that it is what it does. Hence, the more it does, achieves and experiences, the more real it becomes.
James Finley
